Hello and welcome! I am a software engineer, builder, graphic designer, pattern maker, storyteller, bibliophile, collector of good ideas, and data visualization lover.
That’s my Twitter bio and it sums me up well. I have a passion for building and making stuff. Currently a software engineer at a consultancy building out tools for clients, I have a background in design and have worked in a variety of mediums from print to motion graphics, from wrapping paper to the big screen. I have founded a small paper products company specializing in original pattern design, as well as worked for clients creating identities, crafting narratives in storyboards, animating film titles and graphics for documentaries, designing posters, logos, catalogs and other collateral.
I’m kinda hooked on data projects. I love exploring data visualizations and the myriad ways to build and design them, revealing stories hidden underneath the data. I developed a javascript tool to facilitate visualizing real-time data streams.
The truth is I need serious stuff to think about while I’m making. I’m not one for simple eye candy. I am driven by ideas, what form they take and how they communicate.
I grew up in New York City and graduated from Brown University. After working in film production and software development, I went to CalArts where I received my MFA in design. I am always looking for opportunities to combine my love of design and code. I live in Los Angeles and am constantly working and tinkering in my backyard studio (pictured above).
If you’d like to learn more, here is my resumé or you can follow me on Twitter and Instagram. I love working on all kinds of projects, big and small, so if you have something in mind, please get in touch!
